Health and Safety

As a church, we understand that we owe a duty of care to ensure the safety of those who visit or use our church, hall or churchyard. We also know that, where we are an employer or control premises in certain circumstances, we have to meet the requirements of health and safety law. In particular, we know that if we are an employer having five or more employees, we are required to have a written health and safety policy. As such, we have drafted this policy to meet our duty under Section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974

Risk Assessments

To ensure we care for our neighbours in the love of Christ, we need to ensure we have identified potential risks to them and manage these risks. Below are the standard risk assessments for activities in our Church. These are intended to be downloaded and edited for particular events where they differ from regular activites.

This risk assessments must be used in combination with the Safeguarding Policy.

Church Services and use of the Church

This risk assessment covers the use of the church for services and other activities that do not involve significant change to the layout of the church.

This risk assessment is for regular youthwork across the church site  as well as one off or occassional activities with similar activities.

Events in the Hall

This risk assessment covers activities involving people of all ages in the Ivel Room, Chapter House and/or St John's room. For activities using these rooms and the Church, this risk assessment can be used with the Church Services one.

This risk assessment is for activities involving going off site. It additionally includes risk assessment for the following modes of transport: Walking, Cycling, Driving, Minibus and Coach.
